>>42155329nobody cares too much about these things, and the only available thing we know of was the 0.18 patch. maybe "undiscovered" isn't the right word, but rather "unidentified" or "uncataloged" as work done by RPGe. It's not even mentioned on their profile in RHDN that they worked on this. I had no idea this existed before stumbling into that screenshot by accident, and even then I wasn't too sure what it was. To be honest I'm still not sure if it is a screenshot or a mockup, since no patch or ROM with the logo applied has surfaced yet.
>>42155457It was officially spelled Pockemon for a while, though! Also lots of magazines reported on the franchise as Pockemon at the time, I'm guessing sourced from an early press kit from where that weird translated gameplay video of Green came from. The Alfred Kahn thing I didn't know, and yeah it sounds sketchy since you're right and ポケモン was widely used in Japan to talk about the game. If anything, and going by Kahn's account, he heard the shorthand name while in Japan and decided to call it that instead of "Pocket Monsters" and made it as phonetic and stylized as possible. It's weird because he explicitly states that he was trying to make it sound more japanese, while also trying to make it as palatable for western audiences as possible, according to this interview:

There were three pictures, I posted another one earlier in this thread.
