and then there's picrel. Please see the colors and the continuing hexagon motif. They're from around 2018 or so.
I figured the hexagon was an allusion to the crystal structure, but I think it's a nod that the derangement has been around longer than we thought.
I have no firm theories, just sharing an example of how pervasive this motif is. GO could have been the testing ground for the ritual, or a replication of an already successful ritual/offering. If I look as the games as virtual altars, it makes more sense.

Threes were always important in Pokemon, but we're seeing multiples of threes in the same game, across different ones beyond just the pokemon teams themselves.
