I think there is a reason as to why its not water type but rather is Psychic type. It's a fucking Illithid. It even says that is controls other with its powerful hypnosis.
I understand people have different opinions, but I think everyone is simply missing the point of the pokemon. Even in the trailer they where fighting it in the grass not the ocean.
