Nessa's gym in the demo had this water maze area that was more like old style gyms.
The leak that's been accurate so far seemed to imply that Milo's gym trial was about herding Wooloo while avoiding Yampers, so that likely happens outside the Gym. We haven't seen anything of that yet though.
Seems the gyms will have trainers wearing a uniform for that given gym too, going by the most recent japanese trailer (the english one didn't show these extra shots of the gym stuff).
Also, only 5/8 of the gyms are the same on the outside. There's only 5 of those style gyms visible on the map. The other 3 are likely in the 3 huge cities and all have different looks. We've already seen the one in the Red City is brick like the rest of the city and has chimneys coming out of the sides rather than spires.
