>>51580301So I have now taken 5 cracks at Hardcore Nuzlocking, and by extension Nuzlocking as a whole.
I have won 4 of of them. Pic Related.
>LeafGreen>EmeraldHad I won the run on White, it would be here on the list.
>HeartGold>PlatinumNow that I've done a few of these, I think it's appropriate to do a bit of reflection, and some comparing.
Looking at the timestamps, wow these are getting long. Platinum was nearly TWICE as long as LeafGreen (And HeartGold, I beat Lance in 38 or so Ingame hours).
In terms of deaths:
>6 in Emerald>10 in White counting my 6 during the wipe>Exactly 9 in all 3 of the othersWeird that 9 is a common number of deaths, but evidently I performed the best in Emerald.
Now on this Platinum run:
I've said this in a few posts, but I'd never comoleted a Sinnoh game until today. Furthest I ever got was unenthusiastically playing up to Wake on fast-forward. Everything past him was new to me, and so was most of what came before since I was skipping through everything and looking up where to go.
Holy shit was I missing out. These (or Platinum at the very least) are fucking phenomenal games. 9.5/10
>full of SOVL>soundtrack comparable only to HG/SS, I was floored when I went to Route 216>slow but very enjoyable battles. >A storyline I didn't find dry and boring (so it has Emerald beat there)>One of the most fear-inducing Champion fights (even though Lance came much, much closer to ending my run)>Grinding was not fun but these games aren't built around permadeath so that's not an issue in a normal playthroughI will say this though, If I ever do a Hardcore Nuzlocke of Gen 4 again I get to use Rare Candies holy shit the grinding was brain-melting.
Same goes for Gen 5 due to its Exp formula. Brutal.
All in all, I think I am a substantially better Nuzlocker (and Pokémon player) now than when I first left Pallet Town with Brutus the Bulbasaur, only for a wild Spearow to nearly wipe us.
