>>29553262They had sprites but the overworld is mostly 3D models. Camera angle changes couldnt happen in a sprite based game. Stuff like how the world shifts when you enter Sprout Tower or Sky Arrow Bridge being examples.
It's a little annoying how when DP came out people say "finally the games are in 3D." Then when XY came out people said "finally the games are in 3D" and it's happening again with people calling SM the first 3D pokemon game
