You can kinda predict the more obvious Fairy Type ideas that they'll probably introduce into the game at some point. Even in the beginning in Gen VI, people predicted a mermaid, a unicorn and fairy ring mushrooms. All of which we got.

Types aren't just one thing. Fighting is Buff Type, Martial Arts Type, Superhero Type, Qi Type, Justice Type and Warmongering Type all in one thing. They can coexist under a wider umbrella and things are more varied that way.
