>>40995413It really is noticeable - I thought XY was a solid 7/10, liked it quite a bit, but thought it was a little thin on the ground in terms of content, yet was more than willing to concede its weak points as a result of its being the first proper 3D game in the series and saw it as a good groundwork for future entries.
Then ORAS was a 6/10, failing to make good on the groundwork laid down by XY and somehow managing to be less complete versions of Hoenn than Emerald. But again, I was willing to say "well, it's only one subpar entry, they'll get it right next time".
Then SM was a 5/10, with a punishingly small and linear corridor-esque overworld and filled to the brim with cutscene padding and more gated-off areas than any past entry, with virtually zero side content and barely any interesting areas to explore, and I realized we might be looking at a bad trend here.
Now SwSh is almost upon us, and all the pre-release material has it looking like SM 2.0 but with the added bonus of it looking like a rushjob (at least SM were very good-looking 3DS games) and there's even LESS content on display.
My rambling point here is that the backlash is being presented by a lot of people as if the community was totally happy then this one game came out and everyone turned insane, but in reality it's been slowly building up to this point.
