>>56167545>Duel Masters literally uses this mechanic, but why would you expect /vp/ to have knowledge on anything.Oh you think you're clever for bringing up Duel Masters? Yet you are too stupid to see the drastic differences between Pokemons prize cards vs DMs shields?
>DM shields work in reverse to prize cards, giving the one on the receiving end extra cards instead. This gives the player behind a chance for a comeback instead of snowballing the player who is currently ahead.>Shield Break mechanic which further punishes aggression and helps create comebacks by potentially triggering a powerful effect vs the aggressor. This also gives you cards you WANT to be randomly shielded, while Pokemon dreads any important cards ending up prized.>Pokemon decks rely on specific cards in order to win, such as energies, evolutions, and your main attacker. All of which can get fucked by your own prize cards. Meanwhile DM can have ANY card act as their 'energy' and don't rely on a singleton attacker to do all the work. This makes certain cards getting "prized" in DM not a big issue.>DM has tons of cards that let you swap around your shield cards with ones from your hand or deck, while Pokemon very rarely prints a card that lets you interact with your own prizes whatsoever. So even when key cards get shielded, there are plenty of ways to retrieve them.
