The point is that regardless of whatever timeline headcanon you come up with, ORAS confirmed that Mega Evolution is possible wherever there are Pokemon since Infinity Energy is just regular Pokemon bioenergy.
It's what Rowan was studying, it's what Team Galactic was gathering, and it's the inverse of what Eternatus deals with. The only one trying to overcomplicate it with timeline fuckery is yourself.
