>>39743506It definitely was that for me but the realization it was going to shit came on so slowly thanks to having hope that they would return to greatness until late Gen 6. Ended up that with Gen 5 having less content and then Gen 6 having even less content and then Gen 7 being a shitshow, they'd slowly weaned me off into other games as a result.
I always played others anyway but Pokémon was literally more than a third of my life in playtime since it debuted in North America. Which is saying something considering that's over 7 years out of almost 21 even now and I've played relatively little since late Gen 6 so it was a considerably higher percentage.
