Yeah, in tems of gameplay, everything just about the same -- save for the newest addition/gimmick that the sequel offers; But every Pokemon generation most certainly has a different soundtrack, tone, themes, aesthetics, gimmicks, and of course, pokemon.
Saying "they're all the same game" every is a very thin level of understanding.
