I'm gonna go with what most people are saying in that Gen 3 was the best overall. Although other generations before and after had some very great designs, playing RSE never made me feel underwhelmed or persistent dislike for a pokemon due to their design. The patterns on some pokemon were pretty questionable but the general color balance was usually on point.
