Gen 1 did it best. You see this guy as early as 3 Gyms in. You know from word of mouth its a powerful Pokemon and able to resist a lot. If you gamble and get lucky you can get him for cheap(you probably won't, but its worth saying)
Or you go out and hunt him yourself if you're patient. But either way he's gonna suck for a lot of the game and be an EXP sponge. but if you deal with that, you can get yourself a powerhouse.
