At least the previous events offered new Pokémon, boosted shiny rate for shinies that haven't existed in the game before, and often exclusive content that is restricted to ticketholders only. This entire event is just FOMO for people that weren't able to get the FOMO from previous years, literally nothing new except the raid backgrounds, Snorlax in a jacket and Toxtricity, and all of those can be easily obtained with raid passes and max particle packs I've saved up with the help of gym coins.
