i used to play the living shit out of red and blue and one day my save was just gone. i blamed it on my little brother and beat the living shit out of him. even my parents took my side and didn't punish me because they saw how broken i was that i lost all these level 100 pokemon.
many years later i realized that when your internal battery runs dry your save file just dissapears and all it says is new game (which is what happened). if someone deletes your save its cause they saved over it. he was completely innocent.
