Short analysis on Niantic's anti-cheat capabilities and proof that they can absolutely eradicate 99% of spoofing if they really wanted to.
1) Ingress requires permissions to see all your installed apps and Niantic keeps a blacklist. This means you need to root your phone and/or use a special framework to hide your cheating apps when they become blacklisted.
2) Pokemon GO detects phone rooting and detects said framework even if elevated to system and the phone is unrooted again.
With 1 and 2 combined they can already shitstomp most spoofers. Bizzarely, they don't.
3) With just the first numbers of your IP they can know what continent you're in. You would need to use a VPN to spoof to a different continent. This is already beyond the technical skills of most normies and non-trash VPNs are behind paywalls. Also, if two spoofers use the same IP they would be instantly detected, so even if you PAID to spoof to another continent, it would be high-risk.
4) Ingress runs location scans on your Wi-Fi connection. You need a special framework to spoof this (PoGo detects it).
5) Ingress analyzes your SIM carrier. You need a special framework to spoof this (PoGo detects it).
