Just replayed BW1 after not originally finishing the game when I first had it. Here are my thoughts.
The story kind of gets in the way of the game, and you constantly have to stop what you're doing every time you get to a new location to read text heavy pursuits of team plasma that serve little purpose. N is also an annoying piece of shit I just don't care about. His story isn't very interesting to be honest, and I just didn't get too involved with him. He was really a preachy little shithead.
The region has some decent attractions but all around feels empty and linear. Pokemon has never been about exploration but there are hardly any locations to explore. By the time I finished the game there was nowhere I wanted to revisit. Pokemon are also mediocre, lots of filler. Overall, it's a mediocre game that suffers a blow to gameplay due to it's heavy focus on a story that honestly is overhyped and is just bland in the long run.
