First of all, refusing to look at an opinion other than your own is fucking stupid. If you looked at comfy threads, you would understand the appeal of the series in greater detail.
You would understand that it's the world. Not the fucking pokemon, it's the world. Tell me you haven't imagined yourself as a pokemon trainer, receiving your starter and setting off on a journey. If it was only about the pokemon, you'd imagine using the strongest one in battle, or whatever. The world is the appeal of the series, and an open world game is the natural progression of that.
