I've dropped this concept in a few other fakemon threads, but I've never really gone into much detail about it, so here goes - autism time:
This is Beavurn (working name), a fire starter I'm working on for an OC region, based on a story from the Salish people about a beaver stealing fire from the ruler of the sky-world who had been hoarding it all to himself, bringing it down to earth for mortals to use.
It's known to build natural firebreaks in its habitat, both with its nests/dens and the areas cleared for material to build them, and also to occasionally cause controlled burns in small areas, to clear excessive underbrush and promote new growth.
Its tail is fireproof, and it can use it to carry tinder, fan flames it wants to burn, or swat out ones it doesn't.
The reason it -- and the other starters -- are given to new trainers is as part of a conservation effort; they've become increasingly rare as pokemon from other regions have moved in or been introduced, and pushed them out.
I only have the first stage at the moment, but I think barring a couple tweaks to the color scheme, the concept is solid enough to move forward.
Always open to ideas and suggestions, especially possible secondary types that aren't fighting.
