For me, Spritzee's evolution was the first major instance of this, Sobble's final evolution was what convinced me that they were actively putting in effort to avoid making the monsters look cool, and the tera leak where they scrapped pic related in favor of what we ended up getting made me finally accept their design philosophy and to go into new announcements with the lowest expectations possible.
