The Korean characters in King of Fighters are also well liked by the Japanese audience. These are the examples I know, but there's probably more out there. Aren't some k-pop groups successful in Japan? Don't some of them even include Japanese members? I really doubt younger generations care about this grudge, if the character is cool or hot they'll like it.
