These are all pokemon that I like, that could be found in my region...mostly.
>>ferroseed
I live in a karst region, and we have plenty of thornbushes. I've been spelunking. I like these and their evolution, their typing, and especially their colors (green and silver are my favorites). I used one in black, and I really liked it's moves and combat style.
>>purrloin
I've owned cats, and am more like a cat than any other animal. I'm not a huge cat fan, but I still think I would have one. I love the coloring. It's a dark type, which I think I would have on my team somewhere, especially as a little ninja cat.
>>nidoran
My bro and starter. This line is my favorite of all pokemon. I love their versatility, types, and movesets. We have rabbits, which is what I think this is based on. I also love the coloring and design - purple and teal are close to being favorites of mine as well.
>>Sentret
We have tons of squirrels where I live, but not flying ones, to my knowledge. I had a ferret as a kid, it was my favorite pet ever. I think these things are super cute, and I like their names. I'd probably trade it out for something else if I ever got anywhere as a trainer, but I'd always keep it.
>>poliwag
We have tons of these where I live, and I've liked this line since the mid-late 90s when I first started with pokemon. I'd use poliwrath as a proffessional.
>>wooper
We have salamanders, but not axolotls. Still, I love these things and their typing. Also super cute.
Where I live, I could also argue that geodudes/charmanders/bulbasaurs/squirtles/pikachus are all also present, but I decided against picking them. Geodude almost made it onto the list rather than wooper, and it would have made for a better team, but oh well.
I'd grab a ponyta as soon as I could.
We have plenty of birds where I live, but I don't think I'd get any to start with. If I did, it'd be a spearow.
