I'm not referring to the "Snorunt used Frost Breath" meme, I'm talking people who genuinely think that 4x weaknesses make or break a Pokemon.
4x weaknesses usually aren't the issue unless it comes to Stealth Rock. What's really important is the amount of overall weaknesses you have. Heatran is 4x weak to Ground, but that doesn't really matter - it resists soo much shit that along with being able to run as many sets keeps it a dominant OU force and will continue to be one until the end of time.
Alolan Sandshrew and Sandslash will be shit because they're weak to a lot of stuff in general, NOT because they have two 4x weaknesses. (Also, they're slow - Ice/Steel would be a fantastic offensive typing but Game Freak is a bunch of idiots)
But Alolan Ninetales won't be PU because of Steel. Ice/Fairy is a decent offensive typing, and if it keeps its base 100 Speed it could be a very strong Pokemon. You don't stay in to let your opponent ram a Bullet Punch up your asshole. If there's a counter out on the field, you switch out.
