The romhacking community hates Essentials because it's accessible and more versatile than hacking. If you've ever used RPG Maker then you already know how to use Essentials. It's retard-proof and that makes the effort put into learning disassembly or dealing with finnicky rom-editing programs look like a huge waste of time.
One infuriating thing about Essentials though is the file size. Even the most well optimized Essentials game will break 100MB and have thousands of uncompressed files to deal with. The only way around this is through a compressing program that triples the filesize and slows down an already slow loading time.
Meanwhile you'll never find a romhack go higher than 32MB; and it'll always just be the rom itself and the save file.
TL;DR: Essentials = PC, Romhack = GBA.
Also, the "Glorious Essentials Masterrace" poster doesn't care about fangames at all. He just spams that pic to annoy people. He's got a "Glorious Romhack Masterrace" pic on hand as well and he constantly shits up the Romhack/Fangame general just for the sake of making noise. The jannies will never do anything about him so just block the MD5s and hide reply stubs.
