Have you forgotten that each generation has their own unique facility?
Gen III has the Battle Frontier.
Gen IV also has it, yes, but also introduced the PokeAthlon.
Gen V has the Pokemon World Tournament.
Gen VI has the Battle Maison.
And Gen VII has the Battle Tree.
Each game does something new. Get with it or go play Gen III / IV if you want it so bad.
