Well, time for an update:
Beat both Lana and Kiawe's trials.
Dewpider ended up not being terribly tough, as I was able to wittle it down a bit on the first turn with Air Cutter using Sissi, before unleashing Supersonic Skystrike to kill it outright.
Sissi took some damage, but could clean up the partner the third turn.
The Marowak though...
I ended up bringing Clifford along, attempting to Intimidate+Thief my way to victory, but detect stopped a first turn steal. On the second turn, Salazzle and Marowak outsped the poor dog and killed it.
I sent in Garfield, who I was worried would die from Brick Break combined with Salazzle's Venoshock, but no, Thief ensured Brick Break did much less than I worried it would by stealing the Thick Club. Garfield still took a beating though, so in comes Freddi. Freddi proceeded to Hydro Vortex Salazzle to death(Brine would probably have oneshot it, but I wasn't gonna take chances), and then dealt with Marowak at her leisure.
