While every game just adds more problems to the franchise gen V and its narrative based focus is probably the worst element that was added to the series. It's honestly just as slow starting as SM. This narrative focus permeated through XY and SM though I find it much more fun to play than those. I really don't see the series as changing all that much, most of the problems plaguing Pokemon stem from a lazy company and assurance that the product will sell. BW doing extremely well would only extenuate the problem.
