Egg-guy here again. As my son is still too young to officially go on his Journey (a month to go!) I've went and temporarily gotten myself a Trainer Card with this little fellow on it so at least there's some documentation. Turns out it's actually a girl, too. I have no idea how to tell either way, so I'll take Nurse Joy's word on the matter.
Once she got a clean bill of health I went over to the police station to get my card made. Feels weird having one after all these years of not.
I had plans of trying to... I don't know, keep this pokemon from my son, kind of surprise him on the big day, but obviously I was really shortsighted there. She's still just a little thing and she's eating pretty often, so of course it wasn't long before he found out there was a Pokemon in the house. If nothing else, I'm relieved that he seemed really enthusiastic about having ANY pokemon around, rather than being disappointed that it's not something fancy like a Growlithe or whatever. He's a good kid.
I've told him that this Pokemon is just a baby, and will need a lot of care and time to be able to go on his journey with him, and he has to be very responsible to take care of her before I decide if he's ready or not. Obviously I'll help him with the bigger stuff, but he seems really excited and dedicated to taking care of his Pidgey.
I'm hoping this all works out!
