i loved brock's vulpix as a kid and foxes in general, but first got one in ruby, since previously i only had versions with no vulpix, and i had a charmander/cyndaquil
but mudkip and vulpix ruled that game for me and i become so attached to them both
eventually mudkip evolved and was a powerhouse, but i knew that once you evolve vulpix it stops learning moves so i raised it for most of the game and it won every single beauty contest along the way.
so swampert took over in battles and vulpix was my special contest winner. but come the final contest of them all i kept loosing vulpix just couldnt seem to get enough point no matter what i did, so i made the decision and evolved her. it was actually really tought but she was high enough level and the league was coming up so i did it on that island with the rocket on.
needless to say the next day ninetales destroyed the master rank beauty contest and went on to kill the elite four with swampert
and we never looked back.
i even head cannoned it that when my player went to alola ninetales transformed into the ice version
