>>33050684I honestly feel like they have yet to top Gen 1's starters, but to be fair I've had 20 years to get attached to them. 3 comes pretty close, and as unpopular of an opinion as it may be, I think Gen 5's aren't too bad either. Samurott's still a bit weird to me and Pignite/Emboar are straight up bad, but at least the others are fine.
I really never felt anything for the 2 and 4 starters (Gatr and Infernape are pretty cool though), they're just unremarkable to me. I feel the same way for Gen 6, I didn't feel anything more than 'oh' when their evolutions leaked. Gen 7 is the only generation of starters in which I don't care for any of them whatsoever.
