I thought I had most of this run together, with only one death entering the Elite Four. And in fact, I swept through most of Lance's team with ease. And for his last Dragonite, all I needed to do was get an Ice Punch off.
Then: motherfucking crit hyperbeam. of course.
Not being able to heal made this especially bad, and with Outrage, the Dragonite managed to sweep through most of my team. Plus, Golem missed Rock Throw, so great. And it didn't even hit itself in confusion.
Where I got lucky was that Typhlosion got off a burn on it before dying, which saved me the run. Noctowl was able to tank two Outrages, and Shuckle managed to tank until it died. These two Pokemon really surprised me by being able to tank so well.
But seriously, fuck crits and fuck this game
