>>39203902Not really sure exactly how pixiv Red came about, but I have a good guess. This design became popular in 2009-2010 with the release of HGSS, and Red as you may know never had any official artwork associated with those games. So I think Japanese artists took it upon themselves to create something from his HGSS sprite and kinda infused it with his RBY design, essentially yeah "bishi-fication." The name "pixiv Red" just is because the Japanese artists that drew him in that style all posted their art to pixiv.
Back then was also when I really got into the reguri pairing, I liked the pixiv Red design a lot too and drew it myself.
