Getting rid of Day/night isn't bad. It was a dumb mechanic to begin with an only prevented children from sleeping at proper times trying to catch x pokemon when they had school the next morning
Contests brought a whole new perspective to pokemon. It just isn't fleshed out enough. There should be an amateur level etc etc. Just as you gain badges prior to Elite four. Also, better prizes/friendship/happiness/ exp should be awarded
