Sword and Shield have the most focus on multiplayer compared to any previous pokemon game. They want that sweet sweet e-sports money.
I don't know how it was before but now they even have spotlight videos promoting players. I guess that is one thing pokemon e-sports has lacked; big name personalities. They are going all out. Splatoon failed, Pokken failed, Smash won. They want to diversify their e-sports catalogue and Pokemon is what they are pushing next.
I don't play multiplayer. I hope they branch out and make a multiplayer only version of pokemon designed for consoles. Then continue with a separate single player version of pokemon designed for handhelds.
I'm tired of multiplayer ruining my single player experience.
