Between Dragalge and Samurott-H, which do you think fits Alex's strategy better?
>Dragalge
Decent bulk and typing, a versatile Special movepool, and provides Special cover for neutral attacks that Archaludon and Dragapult may have difficulty taking. However, it is extremely slow and relies on Special attacks to hit because it has a higher Special attack and getting in close will leave it vulnerable to Physical attacks that it can't escape from due to its low speed, especially if the opponent gets the bright idea to grab it by its tail. However, I did have the idea of Dragalge also being a "trap setter" to fight at range and lure charging opponents in and hit them with Play Rough and Liquidation, or grabbing them with its Poison/Aqua Tail and swinging them onto a wall/hard surface or putting them into a stranglehold. Dragalge worsens Alex's weaknesses to Ground and Psychic which are opened by Glimmora and Archaludon, while improving his weaknesses to Fairy that is opened by Dragapult and Weavile, Fire that is opened by Weavile and Aegislash, and Fighting that is opened by Archaludon and Weavile, while also providing useful coverage against Dragon's resisted types that can hit some of his Pokemon for neutral damage. However, its main role appears to be limited due to its speed and it mostly serves as an emergency Special nuke or a defensive pivot.
>Samurott
Balanced stats and a solid offensive typing, as well as a great offensive movepool that lets it run a mixed set that can neutralize Ground and Fire threats better than Dragalge due to STAB and catch special walls off guard with Sharpness. Although Sharpness makes it mostly a physical attacker, it can also fight at range with Ice Beam and Hydro Pump as well as Dark Pulse, though it can't defend as well as Dragalge. Samurott worsens Alex's weaknesses to Fairy, Fighting and Bug that are opened by Weavile while also opening up weaknesses to Grass and Electric while also improving weaknesses to Psychic, Ground, and Ice.
