>>12603329I played the hell out of gen 1 when I was little, would've been 10 when red/blue came out. I loved it and played it for hours and hours. Then when Gold/Silver came out I got silver, but kinda stopped playing shortly after. I don't think I even ended up beating it. I think it was partly because my friends stopped playing it, and partly because it was so different, I remember being confused about the Unknown Pokemon that you could catch, and I didn't know what to do with them. But for whatever reason, I stopped playing during Gen II.
At that point I kinda lost interest because no friends played it, and the only Gameboy I ever had was the old grey brick one. I never got a GB Color, or GBA, so never had anything to play it on.
Now at the age of 25, I tried emulating Platinum and Fire Red just to try them out and see how much it's changed over the last 12 years or so, and I was loving it. Not just because of nostalgia, but because there's way more strategy involved than I ever realized as a kid. And there's been so many features added that I'm still learning new things.
So the other day I bought a 3DS and 2 games, and it's been so much fun. And ya, the new Pokemon seem kinda strange sometimes, but hell, a lot of the old ones were pretty fuckin weird too.
