He's also literally a Cancer (July 2). But Yamamoto probably just wrote it as a quick joke. ORAS was such a rushed job it wrecked Ruby in some ways even worse than Sapphire desu, he was always confusing but I only saw a Ruby hatedom spawn after that arc. Even old fan doujinshis would write him in a more moderate way, if only because they didn't speedrun the process or have too many ulterior motives beyond just creating their fanfic story.
My ideal PokeSpe 30th anniversary is the manga finally ending. Since I think it mostly only exists for consumerism now, yeah it's clearly always been a product but these days it's moreso than before, all while the quality declines. But another simple Pokespedia or fan event would at least show TPC cares, meanwhile anything too big like an anime adaptation announcement would just make me worry about the quality.
