Arbitrary does not mean "pointless" or "random" or whatever the fuck you're implying. Arbitrary means subject to someone's will or judgment, as opposed to an actual authority. So if someone says "this Pokemon is shit because it has too many lines," they arbitrarily decided that a certain number of lines constitutes a shit design.
The design decisions you people making are just as "arbitrary" as the ones you're replacing.
