I understand that in many cases the "racism" can be attributed to cultural differences, e.g. Jynx was actually based on Ganguro fashion trend and the Passimian episode was just Ash dressing as a monkey Pokemon, but Lenora's apron seems somewhat intentional and the Japanese animators themselves seemed to have been aware of this as they edited out the apron for the US localization. On a similar note Aunt Jemima was renamed Pearl Milling Company earlier this year.
