And yeah, I absolutely think he should be soft-spoken, and preferably voiced by a woman. I don't know/care much about English-language voice acting, but I've listened to a lot of Japanese voice actresses and I think a lot of them could fit Kiki, one way or another.
When I'm bored I just browse random Japanese agency sites, listen to random VA samples and whenever one who does a boyish voice pops up I go "could this girl fit Kieran?" Yeah it's that bad.Best/most interesting fit I've found so far is this voice actress

And then she talks about being from Iwate (irl Kitakami) and the "oni legend" which I think is an absolutely crazy coincidence.
