I really wanted to like Gen 7's first few games/their definitive editions. It's why I bought Ultra Sun after getting it rec'd to me IRL. But it's just such a suffocating experience, I really can't get into it for more than a little bit. I also have trouble replaying ORAS for some reason, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I dislike the game as a whole. I've been replaying Y and really enjoy it. Same for White 2 except for being so drastically underleveled around Opelucid. That's not the game's fault though, it's just a me thing. As a kid, I never got to play Gen 1 games, but I've got Yellow and Crystal on Virtual Console and I really enjoy them.
Going through them all again, I think DPPt was a really really high point for the franchise, and it sucks that BDSP isn't going to take that experience and scale it up to SWSH's level.
