As for the fondest memories relating to that:
I got my Ruby game used. One of the higher-leveled Pokemon I have was a Linoone. Since I'm the type to play RPG using the strongest anything I have, I obviously ended up using only Linoone (though at times, I change him with Swampert).
How well did I do?
I beat. The fucking. Champion. Using a fucking Linoone. Against the fucking Metagross. Sure I used a bunch of items, but still.It's only after I really got into Pokemon that I realized how stupid that was, and how using Swampert would have make things easier and less... rage-inducing.
