there’s a specific reason the two DS generations share the title of the best, and that’s the shift in design philosophy that came with gen 5. Platinum and BW2, my two favorite games, are good for different reasons. they are both content rich, but the content is different. neither makes the other obsolete. compare this to say, emerald. it’s a fine game, but there’s little incentivizing me to play it specifically when platinum does everything it does better. it doesn’t feel right to lump a game that is thoroughly outclassed as part of the peak.
