Point 1: A choice you might not make or favor doesn't mean it's the wrong one. You may disapprove the choice, which is fine but it's not worth getting that worked up about, especially to the point of jeopardizing the relationship.
Point 2: There are times when people you love can make objective mistakes. Things that are harmful or fatal like OD'ing on Lean or taking wheel after 4 beers. Choosing a fictional owl over a fictional cat or fictional seal in a videogame is not one of those things no matter how much one values the competitive scene.
