Serena starts to tear up as Ash and Pikachu say their goodbyes, and Alexa pushes Serena on her back, causing her to fall into Ash's arms again just like when they were kids. Ash holds hands with Serena one last time as she slowly but gently let go to wave goodbye with Ash and Pikachu boarding the plane to Kanto.
Later while on the plane, while Ash is thinking off all his past friends and his Pokemon waiting at home, a image of Serena appears and he blushes, with a final smirk from him before the episode ends.
