By making every gen 4 pokémon a part of the regional dex, it allows the gym leaders to actually have nicer teams.
Cynthia goes from being a Mary Sue to the best champion in the series, Distortion World is prettt cool, and the expanded pokedex means you won't be missing out on a decent Fire type (which are very useful in Sinnoh) if you don't pick Chimchar (specifically Magmar/Magmortar and Houndoom).
There are also some small tweaks, like the colour of the grass, that make the game just look and feel better. I used to hate Sinnoh because of Diamond and Pearl, but when I was able to catch Rotom in Platinum immediately after the second gym I began to really enjoy the region and the game.
Also you can use the DNS trick exploit thingy to get the events which are also prettt cool
