>>33029262I just opened up my Crystal save in pkhex and there is an option to change the gender, on top of that NPCs ingame refer to you as a boy or girl at times. Wouldn't that mean the game can tell what gender you picked? Do you have a source for there not being a gender flag in Gen 2?
