In the grand scheme Whitney isn't particularly strong, but by Pokemon standards she's one of the few gym leaders who even attempts to teach players about the mechanics of the games while being early enough that the player cant just steam roller with some broken midgame

>>54985572I wouldn't call them perfect only because had used the Crystal encounter tables and put Remoraid in the Prismo Egg then pretty much every Gen 2 Pokémon would have been accounted for, also they could have done a bit more about the lower levels between Morty and Clair. But you're right, Johtofags don't ask for much, HGSS basically gave them everything they needed and then some. I have to wonder if most off the hate HGSS gets now is jealousy that "Kanto's backyard" got the best remake.
