The Village Bridge is based on the High Bridge in New York, it connects northern Manhattan with the eastern mainline much as the VIllage Bridge connects northern central Unova with the eastern mainland.
Both bridges are the oldest in their respective regions.
The houses built along the Village Bridge span resemble those of the Old London Bridge as it existed in the 1630s.
Interestingly Unova also combines lore of a New York and an UK bridge with the Tubeline Bridge, which while being geographically analogous to the George Washington Bridge in NYC, has a design and connection with railways borrowed from the Forth Bridge in Scotland.
